The Big Guy comes into the living room where I am trying to change cranky Scoop’s diaper.
In one hand he has his work fleece. In the other my trusty stain removal gel stick thingy.
He says, “If you do laundry today, can you stain stick my fleece?”
Is it just me or do you want to throw the dirty diaper at him too?
Yes, I have been MIA for oh, say the last six months or so. Sorry about that. Why have I been gone? I think bullets will come in handy here. They make things semi coherent even when they aren’t.
Six months ago the Big Guy took a day shift. This means he was home at night. I don’t really go on the computer when he is home. That was a promise I made to myself a long time ago- don’t neglect the family for the computer.
It’s true he usually falls asleep quite early on the couch and I could have blogged except for the fact that I have been in bed around eight o’clock every night. Why? This pregnancy has kicked my ass from start til (almost) finish! I really am too old for this shit.
I went to my Ob-gyn yesterday. He said I am now in my 37th week. Am I the only person confused by how they calculate pregnancy? I thought yesterday was week 36 but he tells me they refer to it as being in your 37th week. My due date is February 19 (according to the doc) February 15 (according to me- hey I know when the boinking took place and the period time frames). Let’s face it this baby is coming when she is good and ready to come.
It’s a girl. I told you that, right?
I am now out on maternity leave. My last work day was yesterday.
I am so glad to be away from that place for a while. I just could not take any more.
Maybe I’ll be able to get some more blogging in!
Except, the Big Guy is on vacation next week.
I hope he plans on helping and not just getting in the way.
I went to the high risk doc a few weeks ago and he said Scoop is going to be a “big one”. How big? Nine pounds. Ok. Ebaby was 8lb 14oz so I think I can, I think I can.
The Big Guy had balls enough to say last night that he wasn’t looking forward to seeing me push out a huge baby. I think you can guess what (and how) I said to him.
Who wants to guess when and how big this baby will be?
That’s it for now.
Maybe I’ll see you again this week.
These are the Big Guy’s favorite cookies. I may have posted this last year but I am too lazy to go back and check.
1 cup butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup finely chopped nuts (I use walnuts)
extra powdered sugar for rolling
- Mix butter, powdered sugar and vanilla
- Stir in flour and salt
- Stir in nuts
- Chill dough for one hour
- Roll into 1 inch balls
- Bake 10 -12 minutes in a 400 F oven
- While warm roll in powdered sugar
- Cool completely
- Roll on powdered sugar again.
Makes about four dozen
The Big Guy took Ebaby to Walmart on Sunday to pick up an oil filter.
There was a woman wearing some ultra short shorts in front of them.
In a truly shocked (and loud) voice, Ebaby asks, “Daddy, why is that lady wearing no pants? I see her undies!”
Five people snort laughed. One old lady peed a little.

Well The Ultimate Blog Party began four days ago! I’m usually running late but never this bad! See the button on the right? Click it and join the party! I’m supposed to tell you a bit about myself and serve some refreshments. Of course the refreshments are ice cream. Ice cream cones to be specific. Now about me…
- I am 37 years old.
- I have been married to the Big Guy for 6.5 years.
- I have a too cute and way too smart (why do I say that like it’s a bad thing?) 16 year old step daughter. She is known as Sis on this blog. Come to think of it we call her Sis in real life too. Should I give her a better alias?
- I have an almost four year old daughter who I call E-baby. We do not call her this in real life.
- Now that I think about it, sometimes I actually call my husband Big Guy.
- I work part time as a staff accountant.
- I love to read. Book recommendations are always welcome.
- I love to research my family history.
- I love to read blogs.
- I have very little time for the previous three.
- We were felled by the nasty little stomach bug the past five days so I am behind on everything, most noticeably- laundry.
- This is probably the lamest entry I have ever written.
- If you’re here from the party, I apologize.
- I’m pressed for time.
- Please read some older stuff.
- It’s much better really.
- I promise.
- But at least I got to use my fantabulous ice cream cone bullets!
- They make me smile.
Head over to the party and make some new friends.

Someone emailed me (Hi D) and asked about our Valentine’s Day. A couple of weeks ago I postedabout the challenge our pastor put forth. He urged us to do something special for Valentine’s Day. Since the Big Guy works nights we set our VDay as February 18.
So how did we “rock socks”?
First we all went to church.
Then, hang on, this is where it gets good, BG sat on the couch and proceeded to watch a bajillion hours of Daytona 500 coverage.
Wait it gets hotter.
I went to the grocery store. I shopped for two weeks worth of stuff, ooh aah then I came home, put all those groceries away and made a big pot of soup.
Then I did our taxes.
OOH oh!oh!Don’t stop!
Then I did laundry.
For the big finish, I got EBaby ready for bed, got everything ready for Monday morning, jammied up and went to bed.
Yup, this IS the house romance built
While there was no pants pissing, there was still a great reaction to the iPod! We gave it to her Sunday. (Her birthday was really Thursday, but the Big Guy works nights and she goes to her mother’s on Saturdays) The look on her face was awesome! She totally wasn’t expecting it. If BG didn’t get an unexpected post Christmas bonus, she wouldn’t have gotten it. Cause we’re cheap. And broke. But mostly cheap. Anyway, she was thrilled.
Complete change of subject with no transition whatsoever ahead.
Our pastor has issued a challenge. I like a challenge and this one should be fun. Pastor was talking about how people get married and forget the fun and romance of dating. With Valentine’s Day coming up, he challenged us to “rock the socks” of our mate. Yes, my pastor used the term “rock the socks”. I like him. The Big Guy and I have decided to take that challenge. Since BG works nights our Valentine’s Day will be Feb. 18. (Pastor still wants us to do something on the 14th to at least acknowledge the day.)
The idea is to be creative and not spend a boatload of money. I figure for the actual day I will pack his lunch with heart stuff (heart shaped sandwiches, cookies, etc) and a card. I’d like to think of something else for the day.
Here is where you come in. I need your ideas. Keep ’em clean- I already know what he likes in that area. I want to show him how much I love him. I don’t do that nearly enough. I’m usually caught up with what needs to be done (laundry) and what to make for dinner (sausage and bowties). He really is the love of my life and I want to make this day special.
A couple things to keep in mind:
We are on a budget.
I am allergic to flowers.
What rocks your socks? What rocks your husband’s socks?
